Kristie is a warm and compassionate counselor with a solid educational background that includes a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. As a result, her studies have given her a deep understanding of the emotional and developmental needs of children, youth, and families.
In her practice, Kristie embraces a person-centred approach, focusing on empathy and connection with her clients. With specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she effectively supports those working through trauma and difficult experiences. Moreover, Kristie’s friendly and approachable style creates a safe space where clients feel comfortable exploring their feelings and challenges.
A significant area of Kristie’s focus is supporting mothers during the perinatal period. Similarly, she understands the profound changes that come with becoming a parent, including shifts in identity, parenting dynamics, and relationships. Kristie also works closely with families experiencing separation. She recognizes that this can be a challenging and emotional time for all involved, particularly for children. Additionally, Kristie helps families navigate the complexities of separation by facilitating open communication, promoting understanding, and fostering cooperative co-parenting strategies. Her goal is to support families in maintaining healthy relationships during and after the transition.
In addition, Kristie has a strong commitment to supporting families with neurodivergence. Furthermore, she understands the unique challenges that neurodivergent individuals and their families may face, and she advocates for a strengths-based approach that recognizes and celebrates their differences. Similarly, Kristie works collaboratively with parents and children to develop strategies that enhance communication, build self-esteem, and foster positive relationships within the family. Outside of her counselling work, Kristie enjoys yoga and mindfulness. These practices enhance her well-being and provide clients with tools to manage stress and cultivate emotional balance.
