Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, and understanding our inner struggles isn’t always easy. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) offers a gentle, evidence-based approach that empowers you to explore your inner world with compassion and curiosity.
Through IFS, you can connect with your true Self, bringing clarity and healing to the parts of you that have carried pain for too long. At OK Clinical, we’re here to guide you on this transformative journey toward balance and inner peace.
IFS is for anyone seeking to understand themselves more deeply and find healing for the parts of them that have felt hurt or lost. It’s especially helpful for those who want to process past trauma, calm their anxious mind, or develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with their inner world.
Whether this is your first step into therapy or you’ve been searching for a new approach that truly resonates, IFS offers a gentle, welcoming path toward self-discovery and inner peace.
IFS Therapy guides you through a journey of self-discovery and healing, with three key steps.
1
Identifying Your Inner Parts
The first step is learning to recognize the different “parts” of yourself-like the protective parts that strive to keep you safe, or those that hold onto past pain. This awareness helps you understand the roles each part plays in your life.
2
Building Trust and Dialogue
With the support of your therapist, you’ll begin to create a compassionate dialogue with these parts. This process allows you to understand their needs, fears, and the burdens they carry. As these parts feel heard and understood, they start to trust your ability to lead with your authentic Self.
3
Unburdening and Healing
Once your parts feel safe and supported, they can begin to release the heavy emotions and beliefs they’ve held onto. This stage is about letting go of past wounds and allowing your true Self to guide you toward inner harmony and a sense of peace.
IFS offers a unique, compassionate approach to healing that sets it apart from other therapies.
Here are some of the key benefits:
A Non-Judgmental Approach
IFS views all parts of you as valuable, even those that might seem negative or self-critical. It focuses on understanding why each part acts the way it does, creating a safe space for exploration and growth.
The 8 C's of Self-Leadership
IFS helps you cultivate qualities like courage, creativity, commitment, caring, compassion, calm, curiosity, and clarity. These traits can enhance your relationships, decision-making, and overall well-being.
Trauma-Informed and Holistic
IFS is particularly effective for those with a history of trauma, as it gently addresses deep-rooted wounds without forcing change. It encourages a holistic view of mental health, emphasizing the mind-body connection.
Empowerment through Self-Leadership
At the core of IFS is the belief that everyone has a "Self" that is calm, compassionate, and capable of leading their healing journey. By accessing this Self, you can learn to guide your parts and bring balance to your life.

Mark is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia. Mark earned his master’s degree from Portland State University. In particular, Mark’s counselling style draws on interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB), founded on clinical evidence supporting continuous brain growth. Moreover, he believes that positive changes can start by looking within ourselves. Consequently, Mark offers a non-judgmental and accepting space for you to discuss what’s present for you. Additionally, he approaches counselling holistically, recognizing the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Rather than labeling old patterns as pathologies, he acknowledges them as coping strategies. Subsequently, therapy with Mark provides a safe container to explore old patterns, experiment with new ones, heal past hurts, and grow in your relationship with yourself and others.
Accordingly, Mark appreciates the science of neuroplasticity, which suggests that the formation of new neurons and neurological links can continue throughout our lives. Specifically, he believes therapy can help rebuild and reconnect these links to achieve a healthier internal balance. Thus, this is done relationally between therapist and client in a supportive and collaborative manner.
Furthermore, Mark continually develops an understanding of how the intersections of race, class, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability shape each person’s experience in the world. He welcomes discussions on oppression and marginalization and invites a dialogue about differing identities.
Mark works through various theoretical orientations to accompany you within a safe relationship where you can explore your story and tell your narrative. Mark works closely with those with neurodiversity, grief, and much more. He is integrative and draws from evidence-based approaches such as Internal Family Systems, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Somatic, and mindfulness. Mark will meet you where you are to help you find hope for positive change, no matter the feelings or the story you bring.

I am a master’s counselling practicum student and a Registered Social Worker with a deep passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. My journey into the field of social services began with my natural ability to connect with people, fostered by a strong sense of empathy and understanding.
My early academic interest in anthropology gave me a profound respect for cultural and religious diversity, which I incorporate into my practice by creating an inclusive and non-judgmental environment for all clients.
I take a strengths-based approach, focusing on your unique resilience while addressing current concerns. My experience includes supporting individuals through grief and bereavement, as well as working with those navigating challenges related to anxiety, ADHD, stress, and loneliness.
I believe in empowering clients by highlighting their inner strengths, helping them to build confidence and achieve personal growth. Together, we will work collaboratively to explore solutions that align with your values and goals.
When I’m not working, I enjoy learning about different cultures, reflecting on the complexities of human behavior, and finding ways to bring balance into my own life.
If you’re seeking a compassionate, culturally aware, and client-centred therapist, I would be honoured to support you on your journey.
