This has been in many different community settings, with a focus on working with children and youth. Her commitment to being comprehensive and client-centered, along with her focus on relational, emotion-focused, and experiential aspects of therapy, reflects a dedication to creating meaningful connections and actively participating in the therapeutic journey. Therefore, Colleen’s approach to counseling reflects a deep commitment to providing personalized and empathetic support to individuals facing various challenges. Her training in various therapeutic modalities allows for versatility in adapting to the unique needs of her clients. Her collaborative approach underscores the importance of working together with clients. Additionally, she develops tailored treatment plans and goals, fostering a sense of empowerment and ownership in the therapeutic process.
Colleen’s specialization in addressing issues like anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and life transitions demonstrates her comprehensive understanding of the complexities of the human experience. Moreover, her personal experience with ADHD, being neurodivergent herself and raising kids with the same, has helped her to develop great insight into how ADHD impacts individuals and families.
As a result, Colleen’s collaborative and curious nature, paired with her direct communication style and sense of humor, likely contribute to the establishment of a strong therapeutic alliance. Furthermore, by recognizing clients as experts in their own lives and guiding them through their thoughts and emotions, she empowers them to take inspired actions toward personal growth and positive change.
Meanwhile, beyond her role as a counsellor, Colleen enjoys travelling, hosting family and friends, home improvement projects, and the outdoors with her husband and Bernedoodle, Jasper.
