November 4, 2024Kristie is a warm and compassionate counselor with a solid educational background, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Her studies have provided her with a deep understanding of the emotional and developmental needs of youth and families.
Kristie embraces a person-centered approach, prioritizing empathy and authentic connection with her clients. She is a neurodivergence-affirming therapist and a proud LGBTQ2SIA+ ally, creating an inclusive and supportive space where individuals, couples, and families of all identities feel safe and understood. With specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Kristie effectively supports clients working through trauma and challenging life experiences. Her approachable and compassionate style fosters a safe environment for clients to explore their emotions and personal growth.
A significant area of Kristie’s focus is supporting parents and caregivers during the perinatal period. She understands the profound identity shifts, relationship changes, and emotional challenges that come with becoming a parent. Kristie is dedicated to helping caregivers navigate these transitions with resilience and self-compassion, offering a nurturing space to share experiences and build strength.
Kristie also works with couples and families experiencing separation, recognizing the emotional challenges this brings. She helps families navigate these transitions by fostering open communication, understanding, and cooperative co-parenting strategies. Her goal is to support families in maintaining healthy, supportive relationships throughout and beyond separation.
Additionally, Kristie is deeply committed to supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families. She advocates for a strengths-based approach that celebrates neurodiversity and works collaboratively with individuals and families to develop strategies that improve communication, build self-esteem, and nurture positive family relationships.
Outside of her counseling work, Kristie enjoys practicing yoga and mindfulness—tools she integrates into her work to help clients manage stress and cultivate emotional balance.
