Helping Your Child Communicate And Express Themselves

Expressive therapies use the expressive arts (play, art, drama) along with integrative body-based techniques (mindfulness, sensory, and whole-brain activities) to introduce children to the process of emotional management and self-expression during psychotherapy. Unlike traditional arts, expressive arts aren’t concerned with the outcome of a project; instead, they focus on the process of creation and authentic expression, which is helpful for many kids who struggle to discuss their emotions verbally.

Funding & FAQ

Is there funding available?
We work with a variety of funding programs, subsidies, and sliding-scale options to help reduce financial barriers. Our intake team can guide you through eligibility and ensure your child receives the support they need.

Is this therapy or diagnosis?
Our focus is therapeutic support, not formal diagnosis. If diagnostic testing is needed, we can help connect you with the right resources.

What if my child is nonverbal or doesn’t want to talk?
That’s okay! We use play, art, movement, and other expressive approaches so children can communicate in ways that feel safe and natural.

Are parents involved in the process?
Yes. Depending on your child’s age and comfort level, parents may be included in check-ins, feedback sessions, or collaborative planning.
